Coffee Plantation

Día dos en Costa Rica.

Primero nos sirvieron este delicioso desayuno en nuestro hotel, momento que como veis aprovecho cada día para publicar los posts en mi blog.

A continuación nos dirigimos a visitar dos plantaciones de café y a comer en el mercado del Naranjo. Las dos plantaciones que visitamos son de las más conocidas del país: Espíritu Santo y San Juanillo. Y desde luego como podéis ver en las fotos es impresionante las vistas a una plantación de café tan grande. Además nos enseñaron todo el proceso desde que se planta la planta de café hasta que se recolecta, se separa el grano y se tuesta llegando a conseguir un café único en el mundo. El primer país importador de café de Costa Rica es Estados Unidos. Y también planté mi primera planta de café como pudisteis ver, fue un momento muy especial.

El mercado del llano del Naranjo es típico también de aquí y pude comprarme varios productos y frutas típicas como el chayote que es un vegetal buenísimo que se usa aquí para cocinar, plátano frito, etc. Este mercado es de los más típicos y respondiendo a vuestra pregunta de la moneda se puede pagar en dólares en cualquier parte, sólo que te devuelven el cambio en su moneda nacional que son los colonos.

Hoy nos cambiamos de zona y de hotel así que me voy corriendo a terminar la maleta, ducharme y desayunar.

Day Two in Costa Rica.

To start the day we enjoyed this delicious breakfast at our hotel. As you can see I take this time every day to publish the posts on my blog.

Then we went to visit two coffee plantations and to have lunch at Naranjo’s market. The two plantations we visited are the best known of the country: the Espiritu Santo and San Juanillo. And of course as you can see in the pictures it is very impressive the views to a huge coffee plantation, it was an incredible experience to me. In addition to this they shown us the whole process since the coffee plant is planted until it is harvested, the grain is separated and roasted coming to get a perfect and unique coffee in the world. The first coffee importer country from Costa Rica is United States. And I also planted my first coffee plant, so excited about that special moment!

Naranjo’s market is also very typical from the country and you can buy different products and typical fruits like chayote which is a vegetable used here for cooking, fried banana, etc. This market is the most typical in this area and responding to your question about the money you can pay in dollars anywhere, but they will only give you the change in the national currency which are the “colonos”.

Today we are moving again so I’m going to finish the suitcase, take a shower and have breakfast.

¡Buenos días familia!

Después de un buen madrugón, 11h de vuelo eso sí, de la mejor forma con Iberia, y 2h para llegar a nuestro primer destino en Costa Rica… ¡por fin estamos ya en Naranjo! Más concretamente en el hotel Chayote Lodge, que está situado en lo alto de una colina a 1.800 metros sobre el nivel del mar con unas vistas espectaculares a 4 volcanes del país, plantaciones de café y bosque nuboso.

Bajo el lema que caracteriza este país, #PuraVida , he comenzado una nueva aventura que hace tiempo que tenía ganas de vivir. Es un país con poco más de 51.000km cuadrados y cuenta con una población de alrededor de 5 millones de personas. Es un país mayoritariamente dedicado al sector servicios y se basa en el turismo debido a la gran diversidad de maravillosas montañas, bosques, cafetales, playas, volcanes, etc. para visitar.

Aunque estamos en mitad de la jungla por así decirlo ya sabéis que me encanta enseñaros looks diferentes y de mi estilo, que evidentemente uso simplemente para estar por el hotel or ir a comer o cenar con mis compis, no para las excursiones.

Morning family!

After an early wake up, 11h of flight but in the best way with Iberia, and 2h to reach to our first destination in Costa Rica… finally I’m here in Naranjo! More specifically I’m in the Chayote Lodge hotel, which is situated on a hill, 1,800 meters above sea level with spectacular volcanoes views, coffee plantations and cloud forest views.

Under the slogan of this country, #PuraVida, I have started a new adventure that I have been wanted to live since many years ago. It is a country with just over 51.000km square and has a population of about 5 million people. It is a country mainly dedicated to the service sector and it is based on tourism because of the wide variety of wonderful mountains, forests, coffee plantations, beaches, volcanoes, etc. that it offers to the tourists.

Although we are in the middle of the jungle right now you know that I love to show you different looks according to my style, which obviously I don’t wear out of the hotel. Just to go to have lunch or breakfast or for a special dinner. For the excursions I always dress with jeans.

Viernes de nuevo y eso significa que tengo que hacer ya las maletas para mi próximo viaje… Me encanta viajar es verdad, pero reconozco que odio hacer y deshacer maletas…

Estoy deseando que llegue el lunes para poder contaros a dónde voy y empezar a enseñaros fotos y lugares preciosos.

Último look de la semana y es que necesitaba enseñaros ya mis nuevos jeans pitillo en gris clarito. ¡Me encantan! Y me gusta volver a escoger un estilismo bicolor, en este caso con nude/beige, para combinarlos.

Y hoy vuelvo a levantarme contenta y orgullosa por un nuevo vídeo que os he preparado en mi canal y que os dejo aquí también donde os cuento mis trucos y consejos cuando me voy de viaje. ¿Cuáles son los vuestros? ¿Y qué recomendaciones o sugerencias tenéis?

Friday again and that means that I have already to pack for my next trip… I love traveling it is true, but I do admit that I absolutely hate packing and unpacking suitcases…

I just can’t wait until Monday to tell you where I’m going this time and start showing you pictures and beautiful places.

So this is the last look of the week and I needed to show you my new skinny jeans in light gray. I love them! And I like to go back to a color block styling, in this case with nude/beige, to combine them.

And today I get up happy again and proud for a new video that is already up on my tv channel and that I have prepared specially for you with my tricks and tips when I’m traveling. Which are yours? What recommendations or suggestions do you have for me?

Y entonces un día te levantas con ganas de comerte el mundo. Con una sonrisa de oreja a oreja. En paz. Orgulloso de todo lo que has conseguido y de todo lo que está por llegar. Y te ves guapo, y comienzas el día con el guapo subido. Porque la belleza no sólo está en el exterior, sino que la importante es la de dentro. Y te convences a ti mismo de que nadie puede pararte en la persecución de tus sueños, sólo Dios y sus planes para ti. Y te das cuenta de que es mejor ir con una sonrisa por la vida antes que vivir amargado.

Así me he levantado yo hoy. Y ojalá que todos los días fuesen iguales. Ojalá que confiásemos más en nosotros mismos y en nuestras posibilidades. Ojalá que nos ayudásemos unos a otros y nos alegrásemos de lo bueno que consiguen los demás. Se que esto suena a utopía, pero también de ilusiones se vive y a mí me motiva esto en mi día a día. Y vosotros sois una parte muy muy importante de mi felicidad, gracias a todos.

Después de mi reflexión del día os dejo con mi look de hoy. Aunque soy muy fan de los pantalones pitillo y los boyfriend o mum, también me gusta cambiar de estilo con los pantalones de campana. Estos en concreto, que son anchos y deshilachados abajo me encantaron y me los he puesto esta vez con una camisa blanca de algodón y detalles en color camel.

And suddenly one day you wake up wanting to take it all. With a big smile from ear to ear. In peace. Proud of everything you’ve got and everything that it is yet to come. And you look handsome, and you start the day thinking that you are handsome yes, why not? Because beauty is not only outside but inside, which is more important. And you convince yourself that no one can stop you in pursuing your dreams, only God and his plans for us. And you realize that it is better to go with a smile every day rather than living sad.

This is how I have woken up today. And I wish every day were the same. We should really trust more in ourselves and our possibilities. Hopefully we can help each other and be happy for the good things that happen to others. I know this may sounds like an utopia, but we also live from illusions and this motivates me in my day a day. And you are a very important part of my happiness, thank you all.

After today’s reflection I show you now today’s look. Although I am a big fan of skinny jeans and boyfriend or mum ones, I also like to change this style and wear flared pants. These ones in particular in denim I loved them for the design and I have combined them with a white cotton shirt and camel coloured accessories.

Cambios, cambios…

La vida está llena de decisiones. A diario tomamos mil decisiones, muchas de ellas casi sin darnos cuenta, pero que influyen en nuestro destino y camino para siempre.

Retrasar el despertador 5 minutitos más cuando suena por la mañana, no poder ir a la comida planeada porque tienes una reunión, comparte finalmente ese vestido que tanto te gustaba, escribirle ¿por qué no?, sacarte por fin ese viaje que tanto tiempo llevabas queriendo hacer… Muchas tienen consecuencias inmediatas y otras más a largo plazo, pero sea como fuere pienso que las decisiones son algo necesario ya que son el resultado de algo que en un momento determinado pensamos que es lo correcto hacer, nos nace de dentro y así lo hacemos.

Los cambios significan un poco lo mismo. Puede que en un principio de un poco de “vértigo” tomar decisiones drásticas o demasiado importantes. En este punto entra en juego algo importante: el miedo. Miedo al fracaso, miedo al qué dirán, miedo a no conseguir lo que esperamos… Pero ¿qué pasaría si sí lo conseguimos? Esto es un “todo o nada”. Sabéis muy bien que yo soy de las que piensa que más vale haberlo intentado, no una ni dos, sino mil veces, antes decir que algo es imposible.

Os cuento todo esto porque he tomado una decisión importante que quiero comunicaros. Como me habéis insistido mucho en lo de centrarme más en mi canal de Youtube y además me encanta hablar con vosotros por ahí (ya sabéis que me encanta hablar… ¡no paro!) y contaros lo que me pedís, he decidido hacerlo de una forma más profesional. Voy a publicar desde hoy un vídeo todos los miércoles y domingos con las preguntas y sugerencias que me vayáis haciendo. Al ser un gran paso que por fin voy a dar pero que claramente va a suponer mucho más trabajo para mi ya que no soy nada experta en este nuevo campo, he decidido por consiguiente no publicar post en el blog los miércoles. Seguiré publicando posts en el blog los Lunes, Martes, Jueves y Viernes y vídeos en mi canal los Miércoles y Domingos. Por lo tanto este va a ser el último post en mi blog de los miércoles.

¿Qué os parece la idea? ¡Necesito saber vuestra opinión!

Changes, changes …

Life is about decisions. Every day we take a thousand decisions, many of them almost without thinking about htem, but for sure will take an important part in our destiny and life forever.

Delaying the alarm 5 little minutes more when we wake up in the morning, canceling the planned lunch because you have a meeting, finally buying that dress that you liked so much, write him/her, why not?, got finally that trip that you have been wanting to do… Many of our decisions have immediate consequences and others have more long-term, but I think that decisions are something necessary in our lives as they are the result of something that at a certain point we think is the right thing to do, they come from within and we just do it like this.

Changes mean the same. Maybe at the beginning we are scared of taking drastic or too important decisions. At this point it comes something important: fear. Fear of failure, fear of what people will say, fear of not getting what we hope… But what if if we get it? “All in or nothing” You know very well that I think that it is better to have tried it, not once or twice but a thousand times before saying something is impossible.

I tell you all this because I have taken an important decision that I want to share with you, my super nice family. Like you have insisted me to focus more on my Youtube channel and also I love talking to you out there (you know I love talking … I just can’t stop!) and I want to answer all your questions more directly, I have decided to do it in a more professional way. I’ll post a video every Wednesday and Sunday with your questions and suggestions. This is a big step for me that I’m finally happy to make but clearly it will mean more work to me because I’m not an expert in this new media, so because of this I have decided to not publish a post on the blog on Wednesdays. Then we all can focus on the posts or videos depending on the day. I will keep on publishing blog posts on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and videos on my channel on Wednesdays and Sundays. So this will be the last post on my blog on Wednesday.

Hello May!

Parece mentira pero si… ya estamos en Mayo, ¡el tiempo vuela!

Parece que fue ayer cuando estaba en Tailandia disfrutando de mi 30 cumpleaños y de pronto ya estoy preparando la maleta para irme a otro súper viaje a América Latina el próximo Lunes…

De todo esto saco dos conclusiones importantes. La primera es justo con la que he comenzado este post: el tiempo vuela. La vida se pasa volando y creo que estos años son los más importantes en todos los sentidos de mi vida. Tanto laboral como profesionalmente son en los que más activa voy a estar así que no quiero perderme nada: a ni una persona, lugar o momento que puedan hacerme crecer como persona. La segunda conclusión, enlazada a esto último, es que pienso que lo más importante es llegar al final de nuestra vida, cuando nos toque, con la conciencia tranquila. Es importante saber disfrutar de todos los momentos, y como os digo siempre, aprender de los errores y quedarnos con lo bueno, pero siempre respetando y sin hacer daño a nadie.

Tengo la “suerte” de que cada vez esta familia mía, #MartaCarriedoFamily, va creciendo más y más cada día, y no somos pocos no… por eso me veo responsable cada día de todo lo que os cuento y transmito, tanto por aquí como por mi canal o mis redes sociales. Me encanta cuando me escribís mensajes felicitándome o con sugerencias, y también cuando me escriben mamás y papás directamente. Os he dicho mil veces que prefiero que vayamos creciendo poco a poco pero siempre con alegría, con una sonrisa en la cara, e intentando sacar la parte buena y positiva de todo… Porque de lo contrario un día dentro de no tantos años nos levantaremos y nos daremos cuenta de que no hemos hecho nada que nos haga felices, que no hemos disfrutado de las cosas, que hemos pasado por la vida sin pena ni gloria… y en ese momento ya no podremos hacer nada para remediarlo. Aún estamos a tiempo de seguir creando y persiguiendo nuestros sueños chicos, y hay mil experiencias y personas increíbles esperándonos ahí fuera. Centrémonos en lo bueno y positivo y vayamos a por todas siempre, con todo.

It seems incredible but… we are already in May ,time flies!

It seems like yesterday when I was in Thailand enjoying my 30th birthday and suddenly I’m packing again and getting ready to enjoy another super trip to Latin America next Monday…

From all this I get two important conclusions. The first one is just which I started this post: time flies. Life flies and I believe that these years are the most important in every sense of my life. For both, my work and my personal life, these years I will be more active so I do not want to miss anything: not a person, place or moment that can make me grow as a person. The second conclusion, related to the last sentence, is that I think the most important thing is to reach the end of our life with a clear conscience. It is important to enjoy every moment of course, and as I always say, to learn from mistakes and keep the good things and people, but always respecting others, please.

I’m very proud and lucky because these family, my family, #MartaCarriedoFamily, grows more and more every day, and we are already a few hundred thousands… so I am every day responsible for every story and comment that I share with you, here or my social networks and tv channel. I love it when you write me messages with suggestions or congratulations, and also when moms and dads write me directly too. I have said a thousand times and I repeat it now that I prefer that we grow up slowly but always happy and with a smile on our face, trying to keep the good and positive part of it all… Because otherwise one day, not too many years from now, we will wake up and we will realize that we haven’t been happy at all, that we haven’t enjoyed the things that have gone through our life… and at that point we can no longer do anything about it. We are still in time to continue creating and pursuing our dreams guys, and there are a thousand experiences and amazing people out there waiting for us. Let’s focus on the good and positive things always and go for it.

Uno de los acontecimientos más importantes de nuestro país en lo que a tenis se refiere, si no el más importante, es el Open de Tenis.

La ya mundialmente conocida Caja Mágica de Madrid se convierte en el centro de todas las miradas y los 50 mejores jugadores de tenis del mundo, tanto hombres como mujeres, se dan cita en este recinto para disputar partidos llenos de emoción y tensión. Evidentemente como detrás de todo buen espectáculo estos días son numerosos los rostros conocidos que se dejan ver por allí, y yo no quise perderme el comienzo de esta semana tan importante. Varias marcas son las que patrocinan este Master de tenis, entre ellas Estrella Damm que es con la que yo fui el sábado pasado. Como sabréis me acompañaron mi hermana y mi amiga Isa y la verdad es que nos lo pasamos genial, es un plan diferente y me gusta siempre que puedo apoyar el deporte español ya que además yo jugué al tenis varios años en el cole.

¿Cómo vestirse para ir al Open? La verdad es que como en todas partes hay de todo, y todo vale. Pero mi consejo es que podemos ir perfectos con unos vaqueros y deportivas pero entonces yo me pondría una blazer o camisa arriba, o bien elegir un look más casual con jeans, camiseta y chaqueta militar como hice yo y dar el toque más arreglado con unas sandalias. Esto es a elección del estilo de cada uno.

A disfrutar del Lunes los que estéis de puente y los que tengáis que trabajar como yo, mucho ánimo y recordad que nos vemos esta noche a las 23:30h en el canal 23 de Movistar Plus hablando de más música…

One of the most important events in our city as far as tennis is concerned, probably the most important, is the Tennis Open.

The now worldwide famous “Magic Box” of Madrid becomes the center of attention and the top 50 tennis players in the world, both men and women, have a meeting here to play games full of excitement and tension. Obviously behind every good and important show are many celebrities that pop by, and I did not want to miss the beginning of this important either. There are many brands sponsoring this Master of tennis, including Estrella Damm which I went with last Saturday. As you know I went with my sister and my friend Isa and the truth is that we had a great time, it is a different plan and I always like to support our Spanish athletes. Also you know that I played tennis many years at the school when I was younger.

How to dress for the Tennis Open? The truth is that you can dress like you want. But in my opinion you can go perfect with jeans and sneakers but then wearing a blazer or shirt on top, or choose a more casual look with jeans, t-shirt and military jacket as I did and give the more elegant touch with a pair of sandals or wedges. This is a choice of your own style.

So, for those of you who have holidays today enjoy them, and the ones who are working like me let’s do this and don’t forget to always be awesome and smile. Don’t forget also that we have a date tonight at 23:30h on the 23rd channel of Plus Movistar talking about the last top songs.

Unexpected

La vida es una cuestión de actitud… ¿o no?

Creo que todo puede cambiar completamente según miremos las cosas desde un punto de vista más positivo, viendo la botella medio llena.

Personalmente una de las cosas que más me gustan de mi vida son las cosas que no me espero, lo que sucede inesperadamente. Ya sea bueno o malo, de lo malo aprendo y lo bueno lo disfruto al máximo. Creo que esa cierta incertidumbre por no saber qué va a pasar con una situación determinada, por no saber qué nuevos proyectos me llegarán cada día, a quién conoceré y se convertirá en parte de mi vida… eso es lo que me mantiene viva y feliz.

Dicho esto ya estamos a Viernes y aunque ha sido una semana larga e intensa parece que el finde voy a poder disfrutar un poquito de cosas que me gustan. Como sabéis no me fui al final a Marbella porque iba a hacer mal tiempo y he preferido trabajar desde Madrid antes de irme a las Américas de nuevo el lunes que viene, día 9. Así que este finde lo voy a pasar con mis amigos y mañana a los que estéis por el Master de tenis me encantará conoceros.

Life is attitude… don’t you think so?

I think everything can completely change depending on the way we look at things from a more positive view, seeing the glass half full. It all depends on our attitude.

Personally one of the things I like most about my life are things that I do not expect, what happens unexpectedly. Whatever happen to us, good or bad, you can learn from the bad things and enjoy the good ones. I think that not knowing what will happen to us, what will happen with a particular situation, what new projects will arrive every day, who we will know and become part of our lives… that’s what keeps us alive and happy.

Said this, it is already Friday and although it has been a long and intense week it seems that I will enjoy weekend and will be able to enjoy some things that I really like. As you know finally I din’t went to Marbella because it would be bad weather and I preferred to work from Madrid, from home, before going to the Americas again next Monday, the 9th. So this weekend I’ll spend with my friends and tomorrow I will be happy to meet the ones of you that will be by the Master of tennis here in Madrid, come to say hi!

Do what you love

Son dos hashtags muy recurrentes en mis redes sociales porque pienso que más claro imposible. Haz lo que te gusta y nunca más tendrás que volver a trabajar.

Es verdad que aunque no lo parezca a simple vista mi trabajo es muy absorbente y más complicado de lo que parece. Es estar pendiente del blog, redes sociales, mail, llamadas… prácticamente las 24h del día, pero a mi me gusta. Me gusta lo que hago y por eso para mi no es trabajo. Me siento muy afortunada de poder disfrutar tanto de cada momento que vivo y creo que esto es algo que se nota rápidamente en las fotos y vídeos que os enseño.

Por eso este shooting es uno de mis favoritos básicamente por todo: por el entorno de cuento (¡me quiero casar aquí!) de los arcos de la Granja de Esporles; por el vestido midi de flores bordadas en color blanco roto; por las sandalias de ante con flecos que son la última tendencia; por compartir mi trabajo con mis amigos que me ayudaron haciéndome reír para conseguir estas fotos. Creo que sería muy egoísta por mi parte pedir más a la vida y espero que os guste este post tan especial para mí.

¡Por cierto! Ayer publiqué el primer vídeo de mi viaje a Mallorca, ¿qué os pareció? Y aquí viene la segunda parte, ¡espero que os guste!

These are two of my favourite hashtags on my social networks because I think they are clear and true. Do what you love and you won’t have to work never again.

It is true that my work is very absorbent and more complicated than it seems, I can assure you this. I have to work almost 24h a day and stay tuned the blog publishing from Monday to Friday, to my social networks, mail, calls… but I like it so much, it really makes me happy. I like what I do so then to me this is not work at all. I feel very lucky to can enjoy every moment I live in my life and I think this is something that you will quickly notice in the photos and videos that I show you.

So this shooting is one of my favourite ones basically for everything: for the lovely background story (I want to marry here!) at La Granja de Esporles; my midi embroidered dress in light beige color; my new fringed suede sandals which are super trendy; and of course to can share my work with my friends who helped me making me laugh to get these photos. It would be very selfish of me to ask for more in my life so I really hope you like this special post as much as me.

By the way! Yesterday I posted the first video of my trip to Mallorca,did you already see it? And here comes the second part, hope you like it too!

My own fairytale

Lo reconozco, siempre me han gustado los cuentos de hadas, las películas con finales felices.

No se si de esto tendrá la culpa Walt Disney con el “y vivieron felices y comieron perdices”, pero desde luego yo aspiro y trabajo cada día por tener una vida alegre y feliz y transmitirlo a la gente que me rodea.

Aunque sabéis que trabajo 24/7 muchas veces en todas estas escapadas y viajes que hago ya sabéis que me gusta pararme a pensar en mi vida, tener un momento para mi y analizar hacia dónde voy y qué es lo que de verdad me gustaría hacer. Creo que todos deberíamos tener un tiempo de reflexión en nuestras vidas para pensar en este tipo de cosas. Si lo estamos haciendo bien o no. Si podemos hacerlo mejor. Pero sobre todo si lo que hacemos nos hace felices. Al final sólo tenemos una vida y debemos aprovecharla al máximo.

Estas fotos las hice de nuevo en la Granja de Esporles donde como os comenté ayer cada rincón tiene un encanto único. Para no aburriros sólo os he dejado un par de cada una de las localizaciones de este preciso patio interior que se encuentra a la entrada de la finca. Por unos momentos eché a volar mi imaginación inventado cómo vivirían allí sus inquilinos hace varios cientos de años… La casa noble no tiene desperdicio por dentro y se conserva prácticamente intacta desde el siglo XVI.

Me voy corriendo a coger el tren hacia Barcelona.

I do admit it, I have always loved fairy tales, movies with happy endings, who doesn’t?

I do not know if it’s Walt Disney’s fault with “and they lived happily ever after”, but of course I aspire and work every day to have a cheerful and happy life and to transmit it to the people around me.

Although you know that I work almost 24/7 many times in all these breaks and trips I like to stop for a while and think about my life, take a moment for me and look where I’m going and what I would really like to do. I think everyone should have a time for reflection in our lives to think about this kind of things. If we are doing well or not. If we can do it better. But especially if what we do makes us happy. In the end we have only one life and we should live it to the fullest.

These photos were made again at La Granja de Esporles where as I mentioned yesterday, every corner has a unique charm. To not bore you I have left only a couple of pics in each location of this wonderful courtyard located at the entrance of the place. For a moment I let fly my imagination inventing how they would live there some hundred years ago… The noble house has been almost fully preserved since the XVI century!

I’m running now to take my train to Barcelona.
