Dubai Desert

¡Buenos días, hoy ya desde Madrid!

Y es que llevo desde las 7 de la mañana trabajando porque el jet lag quiere hacer de las suyas hoy…

Pensaba que después de la experiencia que os conté el otro día desde el edificio más alto del mundo, el Burj Khalifa, poco más había en Dubai que me pudiese sorprender tanto… bueno, pues estaba equivocada (así somos los humanos). Gracias a la agencia de mi querido amigo Jacobo, Middle East Experience, que se dedica a organizar todo tipo de excursiones y visitas en Middle East, he podido disfrutar y tachar de mi lista de “Cosas que hacer a lo largo de mi vida” el pasar un día en el desierto.

Apenas a 45 minutos de la ciudad de Dubai se encuentra este inmenso desierto con las segundas dunas más altas de todo Emiratos Árabes. Gracias a nuestro súper guía Mohamed al que mando un saludo desde aquí, nos metimos de lleno en la historia de los nómadas que han vivido años y años viajando por el desierto aprendiendo de dónde sacar agua, en qué lado de las dunas asentarse, qué plantas eran venenosas y cuáles sanas para comer, etc. Os he colgado bastantes fotos y de verdad, ¡me ha costado mucho seleccionarlas! Quería poneros todas de cada momento pero bueno creo con estas y el vídeo es suficiente, ¿no? hehehe.

Subimos y bajamos las dunas en jeeps que son los coches más apropiados para este terreno. Luego montamos en quads bajo el calorazo de unos 30 grados al sol. Si si, por eso escogí llevar tirantes y shorts como buena turista que era. A continuación fuimos a ver la puesta de sol y al campamento base donde disfrutamos de un espectáculo divertidísimo como veis en el vídeo, cena exquisita y además montamos a camello bajo la luz de la luna. Esta sí que ha sido la experiencia más bonita que he vivido. Además me sirvió para desconectar por completo, cosa que rara vez consigo, al no haber wifi ni 3G ni nada por estar en medio del desierto, en medio de la nada. También os he dejado algunas de mis fotos favoritas del paisaje que tomé yo misma con algunos de los animales que nos encontramos y la puesta de sol. Realmente os recomiendo esta excursión si vivís allí o si tenéis la oportunidad de ir a esa zona dentro de poco.

Me voy a comenzar la semana de trabajo que tengo mil reuniones y trabajo pendiente.

Morning morning, today already from Madrid!

And because of the jet lag, that is really killing me today, I’m awake since 7a.m…

I thought that after the experience that I told you last week from the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, Dubai hasn’t so much pretty things to show me that really could impress me like that… well, I was wrong another time (humans are like this). Through the agency of my dear friend Jacob, Middle East Experience, which is dedicated to organize all kinds of excursions and visits in Middle East, I could enjoy and cross off to my “Bucket List” (or “Things to do before dye”) to spend a day in the desert.

Just 45 minutes away from the city of Dubai is located this impressive desert with the second highest dunes of all Arab Emirates. Thanks to our super guide Mohamed who I want to thank once again for everything, we immersed ourselves in the history of nomads who have lived there years and years traveling through the desert learning where to get water, which side of the dunes is better to settle the camp, which plants were poisonous and which healthy for eating, etc. I know I’ve posted enough photos but the truth is that it took me so many time to select them! I wanted to show you all that we did but I think that with these ones and the video is enough, right? hehehe.

We went up and down the dunes in jeeps that are most appropriate car for this area. Then rode quads under a sunny day with about 30 degrees at the sun. Yeah, why I chose to wear a top and shorts as a good tourist I was. Then we went to see the sunset and the base camp where we also enjoyed a hilarious show as you can see on the video, an exquisite dinner at the camp and also we rode a camel under the moonlight. This really was the most beautiful experience I have lived until today. It also helped me to completely disconnect, which is rarely to me, because there were no wifi or 3G or anything as we were in the middle of the desert, in the middle of nowhere. I’ve also left some of my favorite landscape photos that I took myself with some of the animals we encountered and the amazing sunset. I really recommend you to do this tour if you live there or have the opportunity to go to that area one day.

Now I’m going to start this working week full of meetings and collaborations that I have pending.

No se vosotros pero yo soy de las que prefiere dejar lo mejor para el final… por eso he dejado este post para hoy, último día de la semana, que es mi post favorito desde que llegué a Dubai.

Como muchos sabéis por mis redes sociales el martes fuimos a descubrir el edificio más alto del mundo (al final os he dejado una foto del Guinness World Records): el Burj Khalifa. Está situado en el centro de Dubai y conecta directamente con varias de sus zonas más importantes como el centro comercial más grande en el que yo haya estado hasta ahora, Dubai Mall, o el mercado típico de la cuidad, el zoco o Souk.

Según el tipo de entradas que saquéis se puede subir hasta la planta 124 o hasta la 148. Personalmente os recomiendo que subáis hasta la 124 que es a la que yo subí porque desde la 148 me han comentado que las vistas son buenas claro pero se ve todo bastante peor al estar tan alto. También os recomiendo ir a la hora que yo fui, sobre las 17h de la tarde, porque como veis tenéis tiempo de hacer fotos con luz de día pero también de ver el atardecer, es espectáculo de la Fontana y luego de contemplar toda la cuidad de noche llena de luces. Es una de las experiencias más bonitas que he vivido en lo que a turismo se refiere.

Al estar al aire libre a tanta altura opté por ponerme un vestido largo de lana fina de canalé con detalles de leopardo: cinturón vintage y mis slippers favoritas. Mi inseparable bolso y un reloj marrón de piel fueron mis accesorios.

Y parece que ha pasado la tormenta de arena por fin… así que hoy si que si nos vamos al desierto. Os iré contando todo cuando pueda.

I know about you but am one who prefers to leave the best for last … why I left this post for today, the last day of the week, which is my favorite post since I arrived in Dubai.

As many of you know about my social networks on Tuesday we went to discover the tallest building in the world (at the end I have left a photo of Guinness World Records): the Burj Khalifa. It is located in the center of Dubai and connects directly with several of its most important areas as the largest mall in which I have been so far, Dubai Mall, and the typical market of the city, the souk or Souk.

Depending on the type of entries that you can climb to carry forth the plant or 124 to 148. Personally I recommend you go up to 124 which is where I got that from the 148 I have commented that the views are clear but looks good all much worse being so high. I also recommend going when I went, about 17h in the afternoon, because as you see you have time to take pictures in daylight but also to watch the sunset, it’s show of Fontana and then see the whole city of night full of lights. It is one of the most beautiful experiences I have lived as far as tourism is concerned.

As the visit was outdoors and the floor was so high I decided to wear my new maxi dress in wool and beige color, I love it! I combined it with leopard accents: a vintage belt and my fav leo slippers. My beloved sack style shoulder bag and a leather brown watch were my accessories.

And it seems that the terrible sad storm that we lived yesterday has finally passed… so we are going to the dessert today. I will be telling you everything whenever I can.

Doha: The Pearl & Katara

¡Buenos días, hoy desde Dubai!

Ya hemos llegado anoche a nuestro hotel en Dubai, el Double Tree by Hilton Al Barsha. Os iré contando en los próximos posts todo lo que vayamos haciendo por aquí, pero recordad que para seguirme en directo podéis hacerlo a través de mis redes sociales donde cuelgo todo de cada momento: @itgirlmarta.

Hoy os dejo las fotos y vídeo de nuestro día de ayer. Como muchos ya sabréis visitamos dos de las zonas must go de Doha: el puerto The Pearl y el área comercial Katara. The Pearl es una zona residencial con varias torres de apartamentos alrededor de un puerto con barcos de lo más lujosos. Se pueden recorrer dando la vuelta al círculo completo que tiene unos 6km de distancia o a través de los puentes que veis en el post. Además cuenta con las tiendas de las mejores marcas a nivel mundial como Elie Saab, Hermes, Chanel, Rolex, etc. a la vez que con una amplia variedad gastronómica. Katara sin embargo es una zona más comercial donde podéis encontrar tiendas, restaurantes, mezquitas, puestos de souvenirs, incluso el impresionante anfiteatro donde realizan muchas actuaciones y conciertos, todo a orillas del mar con unas vistas maravillosas.

En esta zona del continente asiático ya sabréis que nunca llegan a tener un invierno como el que conocemos en América del Norte o en Europa. Aquí las mínimas temperaturas que se alcanzan son 15 grados en invierno… así que imaginaros el calor que estamos pasando estos días. Pero es preferible, por su cultura, que las mujeres llevemos algo cubriendo nuestros hombros, es por esto que escogí mi nueva blazer en color azul turquesa que tenía muchísimas ganas ya de estrenar. Es una blazer como las que a mi me gustan y ya sabéis que tengo: lleva botones en el centro y en las mangas, pero sin duda lo que más me gusta son las tachuelas que decoran la chaqueta en azul también y que sea de cuello mao, eso la hace diferente a otras. Debajo opté por un vestido en blanco roto evitando prendas negras que me diesen más calor. Como calzado mis cómodas bailarinas bicolor y como accesorios es necesario llevar siempre unas buenas gafas de sol y yo mi nuevo bolso tipo saco.

Morning guys! Today from Dubai!

We have arrived last night at our hotel in Dubai, the Double Tree by Hilton Al Barsha. I’ll tell you in the next posts everything that we will be doing here, but remember to follow me directly through my social networks where I share every moment all the pics of where I am and what I’m doing: @itgirlmarta.

Today I show the photos and video of our last day in Doha. As many of you already know we visited two areas must go in Doha: The Pearl Port and Katara commercial area. The Pearl is a residential area with many apartment towers around and a beautiful port with luxury boats in the middle. You can go around the whole circle that is about 6km away or across the bridges you can see in this post. It also has stores from the top international brands such as Elie Saab, Hermes, Chanel, Rolex, etc. while a wide variety of cuisine and restaurants of any country. Katara instead is a shopping area where you can find shops, restaurants, mosques, souvenir stalls, and of course the impressive amphitheater where they organice many important performances and concerts, all by the sea with these wonderful views.

In this part of the Asian continent you should know that they never have a real winter like the one we know in North America or in Europe. Here the minimum temperatures reached 15 degrees in winter time… so you can imagine the heat we are experiencing these days. But it is preferable for its culture that women cover with something our arms, which is why I chose my new blazer in turquoise blue color that I really wanted to wear it for the first time. It is a blazer like the ones I like and you know I have: it has buttons in the center and on the sleeves, but definitely my favorite thing are the studs decorating the jacket in blue too and it mandarin collar that makes it different from other models. Below I opted for a white dress black garments which would give me more heat. As shoes my comfortable color blocked flats and as accessories it is a must always to wear good sunnies and my new handbag sack style.
